Run a Previous Year Update

How to run a Previous Year Update directly in Access Pay & Bill 2.0, without needing to return to the legacy desktop version.

Written by Terence Cassidy

You can now run a Previous Year Update directly in Access Pay & Bill 2.0. This means you no longer need to go back to the legacy desktop version to complete this step in your payroll processing.

Where to find it:

  1. Click Payroll then click RTI Procedures and select Previous Year Update.

What you'll see on screen

When you open the Previous Year Update screen, the following details are shown for your reference. These fields cannot be edited:

  • Year – the tax year the update will run against.

  • Start of Current Employer Tax Year – the date your employer's current tax year begins.

  • End of Current Employer Tax Year – the date your employer's current tax year ends.

Run the Previous Year Update

The Previous Year Update is set up so that any payroll adjustments for a previous year are collated and a Previous Year Update is created for the worker.

  1. Review the details shown on screen.

  2. Click the Run button in the footer bar to start the process.

If you want to exit without running the update, click Cancel. You will be taken back to the home screen.

Check the status

A confirmation message appears on screen to let you know the process has been queued.

Go to Reports ; My Processes Queue. The Previous Year Update will appear in the list as a P14/P60 procedure:

Click the process name link to see the full details of the Previous Year Update.

Once processed, the Previous Year Update will be available in Payroll ; PAYE Online ; PAYE Online ; Outbox.

📌 Note: PAYE Online is coming soon to Pay and Bill 2.0. In the meantime, you can find this in the legacy desktop product.
