Submit an Employer Payment Summary (EPS)

Submit your Employer Payment Summary to HMRC directly from Access Pay & Bill 2.0 using a guided, step-by-step process.

Written by Terence Cassidy

Submitting your Employer Payment Summary (EPS) to HMRC is now quicker and simpler. Access Pay & Bill 2.0 includes a dedicated EPS submission screen with a clear, guided process so you can recover statutory payments faster and stay on top of your RTI obligations without navigating the legacy desktop process.

Where to find it:

  1. Click Pay and Bill and then click Payroll.

  2. Click RTI Procedures and then select Employer Payment Submission.

How it works

A guided stepper walks you through the submission from start to finish, showing your progress at each stage. You can step back to review earlier sections at any time.

The screen automatically works out your available submission periods based on the UK tax year, and calculates an accurate year-to-date figure by combining the current period with all previous submissions so no manual calculation required:

Built-in validation

Before you submit, the system checks HMRC's rules covering:

  • Payment dates

  • Inactive periods

  • Scheme closures and final submissions

  • Apprenticeship Levy

  • Employment Allowance limits

  • CIS reclaims

If a period has already been submitted, the screen automatically switches to a read-only view so nothing is changed by accident. If you are due a refund, you will be prompted to add your bank details so HMRC can pay it directly back to you.

Key benefits

  • Faster cash flow – statutory payments are recovered sooner rather than absorbed as a cost.

  • Fewer errors and less manual admin – validation is built in and figures are calculated automatically.

  • Reduced risk of HMRC penalties – deadline and compliance checks are built into the submission flow.

  • Better visibility of your HMRC position – supports more accurate cash flow forecasting.

  • A clear audit trail of every EPS submission – useful if HMRC ever raises a query.

  • Easier management across multiple PAYE schemes – ideal if you process EPS for several clients or employers.
